It is with our eyes wide open that we daydream as we look around our expanding world, while at the same time keeping our feet firmly planted on the ground. The communities of Aldoboly, Illyefalva and Sepsiszentkirály are located at the southern gateway to the Sekler region, which in the Middle Ages lay at the crossroads of two, and in modern times of three different cultures. The village residents look with a mixture of concern and confidence toward the future. The history of past centuries offers us countless examples of survival and of defeat, serving as a constant reminder of the vagaries of fortune.

We hope – encouraged by the past two decades – that we will once again find ourselves on the bright side. I will not try to list all the individual achievements of the village’s local authorities, residents, churches and businesses: all of us strive to work for the good of the local community, in the belief that our triumphs cancel out our failures if both are shared equally. And we believe in our ability to see the forest for the trees, since the life of our community is meaningful if it is an organic part of the life of all of Sekler society, if it is capable of realising whatever the task at hand.

We have been able to fulfil a number of objectives by virtue of good examples and intentions – these are the subjects of the other newly launched webpages of our village. Not only the name of Illyefalva, but its lovely lilac-covered walking path and its historic castle church, are familiar to tens of thousands of visitors. We are pleased to welcome you – both virtually and in the flesh – as visitors to our historical sites, customers of our local products, clients of our businesses, or members of our partner civil organisations. Or if you like – and what is there to stop you? – savour the delights of simply taking a stroll and looking around, without any particular goal in mind.
