Horse farm (Sepsiszentkirály) |
On the edge of the village of Sepsiszentkirály (part of Illyefalva), Ciprian Nicolae Vranceanu, an engineer, runs a horse farm that is home to 20 horses and 5 ponies. The multi-hectare property regularly hosts summer riding camps for children, mainly for schoolchildren from Bucharest. Room and board is also provided on the site. “Children can learn a great deal from horses”, claims Vranceanu, who is keen to revive the nostalgia he feels for the holidays he spent in the country at his grandmother’s as a child. “Horse riding is not only an excellent sport, but also teaches self-discipline”. The manager of the establishment considers it important for children to learn from the horses, who can teach them endurance and perseverance. The owner of the farm – who also provides carriage rides upon request – proudly mentions that Szentkirály has been the site of national and international races. The popularity of the horse farm is obvious when you see the visitors who come from Braşov (Brassó) on the weekends to spend a few hours in the saddle. Experts on the farm help beginners take their very first steps.
